Image-to-PDF Quality Tips
300 DPI for print
If the PDF will be printed, your source images should be 300 DPI at the target print size. A 4×6 inch photo at 300 DPI = 1200×1800 pixels. Phone photos (12MP = 4000×3000) are fine for up to 13×10 inch prints. Screenshots (typically 72–96 DPI) will look soft if printed large — but fine for digital submission.

High-res images → large PDF. A 20-page scan at 300 DPI can hit 50–100MB. If you hit email limits (25MB Gmail/Outlook), run the result through our Compress PDF tool. It downsample images, strips metadata, and subsets fonts — often 70–90% size reduction with minimal visible loss.
Transparency handling
PNG/WebP transparency becomes white background in PDF (PDF doesn't support transparency in the same way). If you need transparency preserved, the use case is usually "overlay on another PDF" — for that, use our Watermark PDF tool with a PNG/WebP watermark image instead.
